Central Sterile Supply Department that brings Zero-rate nosocomial infection

Even with the tremendous strides being made in the medical and surgical fields, nosocomial infections continued to be a significant drain on human and economic resources producing human suffering and higher health-care costs. One aspect of preventing these nosocomial infections in health care facilities is the effective reprocessing and sterilization of medical devices. The provision of well controlled and validated sterilization processes will have far reaching effects.

It will reduce preventive and presumptive antibiotic use
Prevents Surgical Site Infection (SSI)
Reduce the morbidity and mortality due to hospital acquired infections
Limit the use of chemical disinfectants
Improve the overall quality of patient care
Reduce the higher health care cost
Control the use of single use medical devices - a major ecological factor in the increased amount of chemical waste

Power Laundry

MIMS Power Laundry
Our power laundry consists of Industrial Washing Machines
Hydro Extractors
Drying Tumblers
Flat Bed Presses
Stain Removing Machines, etc.

We are processing around one lakh piece of clothes per month using appropriate chemical and physical agents for removal of the bio-burden and disinfection according to the recommendations of APIC Guidelines (USA) and OSHA (USA).

Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences Ltd. has arranged CSSD according to Hospital Technical Memorandum issued by the department of Health and Social Security, U.K. , ANSI/AAMI - U.S.A, ISO 11134, 5, ISO 13683 and EN 554, strictly following their methods and recommendations.

The work in MIMS CSSD consists of four main processes :
Reception, inspection, and decontamination (removal of bio-burden)
Assembly and packing
Sterilizing
Storage and distribution

VALIDATION OF STERILIZATION
Sterilization processes must be validated. Validation of sterilization in MIMS CSSD consists of seven sets of activities :
Proper Commissioning of sterilizers and its documentation
Sterilizer PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance) and its documentation.
Daily warm-up and B/D tests for steam sterilizer.
Weekly biological confirmation with bacillus stearothermophilus for steam sterilizers.
Biological confirmation of each load for EO sterilization with bacillus subtillis.
Computerized monitoring and performance qualification (manual monitoring) of all cycles.
Review of all documentation of sterilizer testing and quality system process control by technical manager.

MIMS as a part of its mission extends its service to society through
